Porch Portraits

Old South | London ON

Expanding community through photos

Sunday, June 7th, 10am-4pm

What are porch portraits?

A love letter to the neighbourhood.

Founder Natasha Roberts began this journey 3 years ago. In an act of “sharing the love”, she has invited Mariam Waliji, your friendly neighbour in Old South to leisurely explore your vibrant neighbourhood for the whole day, cameras in tow. Mariam will capture photos of you and your loved ones in your favourite spots—whether it's your front porch, steps, or lawn. Using the nostalgia of film (35mm) photography, we’ll ensure each shot joyfully reflects the unique charm of your community. So kick back, relax, and let's create some timeless memories together.

***For this year, Mariam will include houses between Wharncliffe and Wellington, and Baseline to the river.

But why?

We believe in the transformative power of community through art. We hope to encourage collaboration of individuals and community, locally and globally through shared love, resources, and energy.

Driven by our passion for photography and collective movement, Natasha created this annual event that serves as a reminder that we are better TOGETHER. Old South will be the second neighbourhood to participate in this growing movement.

Join us on this journey of connection, empowerment, and shared purpose as we capture moments, create memories, and expand our communities.

What is included?

1) Two minute photo session of you and your loved ones in front of your home.

2) Two edited downloadable digital files, captured on 35mm film, delivered to your email.

3) One photo print, printed by local gem, All Things Film.

What is the cost of this experience?

This is a PAY WHAT YOU CAN event.

To confirm your spot, please send your giving through e-transfer to:
natasha.roberts99@gmail.com

Our suggested donation is at least $25. If you feel unable to donate the suggested amount, no worries, we would be happy to include you in this event if funds are tricky. If you feel you have the resources to give more, please do.

100% of the money you send, will be used to send some lucky neighbour kids to camp this summer. Together, we hope to send at least 6 children to camp for a week.
The neighbourhood summer camps will include: Junction Climbing Centre, Growing Chefs and London Girls Rock Camp+.

Some important info

The photo sessions will be 2 minutes per house, so please be prepared at your designated time (which will be emailed out once we have a better idea of how many participants we have this year!).

Mariam will be arriving by bike and since she will only have 2 minutes, we apologise if she won’t stay to chat. We will all catch up another time, we hope.

If it is raining, it’s still a go. If it is a downpour, we will try and find another date.

Please have fun with this! If you want a serious photo, go for it. If you want to wear ridiculous costumes and make it absurd, go for it! We are happy to capture whatever fits your vibe.

You will receive an email from me 24 hours before the event to confirm your time.

You will receive the digital files from me within a month (hopefully sooner) and we will hand deliver your prints to your mailbox, as soon as Avan and his amazing team at All Things Film have them ready to pick up.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR COMMUNITY DREAMS COME TRUE
